Yes, The bottom plate is a must for support. You should also get a rubber gasket to go around the edge of the bottom part. Harley puts it around the lid but getting it to stick to fiberglass is some what of a chore.

OK, I got the same pak off ebay along with most of the other parts needed. I ordered all the hinges and lock from Harley. Every thing fine until I found out the the rivets that hold the hinges on needed a special tool to install. I called Harley and was informed that the tool cost around $400.00. My dealer was nice enough to tell me bring all my parts in and thay will put it togeather for me. I was very relieved to hear this. I was not looking forward to drillingfiberglass.Long story made short, By having Harley do all the installing of the parts I ended up with a great looking Pak whick came in around $500.00 under what it would of cost from Harley.
Anymore pics?? I'm still gathering parts needed for my install. Did you install the steel plate on the inside of the pack?
How are you coming with your pak?Put it togeather yet?

This thing is awesome. The wife and I used it for our 1000 (round trip) ride to Daytona.
We over packed it, she leaned on it and we abused it.
Never broke.
For 110 bucks I can afford to break 11 of them for the price of the Harley one...

I got a PM about some latches thatsomeone was going to send me but I never got them. I'm gettin ready to go down and order the latch/hinge stuff that I need. I think that a new seat is going to be the first thing on the list, my stock one is wore out bad and is only good for about 80 miles without pain. I will post some more when I get farther along.

I think you are all talking about two different things. The $200 clone from PA, and the imported VIP. I am looking for a nice one, but cheap too!

In fact there are two different $110 ones on EBay. As well as the $200 clone. The VIP from M**** looks to be the best. Would like to hear from others that have bought the VIP unit. Think I saw a pic of one on a RoadGlide in the Road Glide pic forum.... But DLing 17 of those pages with dial up [:@]. Someone help me out here, eh?
