I was riding up from Key West to Marathon this past Monday night. The roads across the islands are pitch black dark at night and I could really see the benefit of the LED's. they lit up the road and beyond both shoulders on low beam. High beam just made even brighter what was already illuminated. Believe it or not, the Key deer are a big concern at night between Key West and Marathon. And you'll get crucified if you hit one!
I've made that ride to the keys several times, this last time I did it however I didn't make it to the keys before it got dark. I completely agree.... It f ing dark out there!! I still have a stock headlight and it makes me want to upgrade for sure. Even here at home out on open dark roads the factory sg light doesn't seem to cut the mustard.

I have the HD Daymaker Reflector. I had the Trucklite TLP7 on my last SG. The light is very similar but the TL uses two LED's....one for low beam and one for high beam. The HD Reflector has three LED's for low beam and three for high beam and a much better reflector that disperses the light much better.

The HD Reflector is also visible to traffic during daylight hours far better than the TL which was a safety concern for me since most of my riding is during the daylight hours.

I agree with Cass; everything he stated is spot on.

Lots of mixed input but I have to agree with a couple suggestions. First make sure it is aimed correctly. Next the running lights make a huge difference. My opinion is a mixed bag as I had the Daymaker on my Road Glide that took a dirt nap a couple months ago but was a night and day difference over stock. On my Road King I first had just the Truck Lite headlight and the wow factor was greatly appreciated. When I added the running lights the side of the road view really helped tremendously. Night rides are now actually enjoyable and I often stay out late just because I can see so much better.

A set of ten dollar 896 bulbs in the spots add a bit of extra light as well.

I have the same H4 but at 90/130 watts plus a couple of Wagner 4509 square beam 100 watt landing light bulbs in the spots that I got for nine bucks each from Amazon...wired in with a Bosch relay...for well less than fifty bucks I have phenomenal lighting that cannot be equaled by any high buck trendy lighting...period. my riding partners didn't believe until when a cage almost cut one of them off & I hit the switch...damn near welded their eyelids to their eyeballs. They couldn't convert fast enough!

I have the LED reflector with LED reflector driving lights. I absolutely love it.
Nah. Just make certain you have the ceramic plug & upgrade the spotlight wiring when you wire in the relay. If yer skeered about the headlight wiring just go a size or two bigger. The bigger H4 DOES generate more heat and I agree about not using one in a small bucket...but this is a TOURING forum so that infers that we win have big buckets...I'm telling ya, folks are missing the boat & spending a LOTTA money on lights that just don't get the job done as well as my alternative. Yes, they do draw more current but shouldn't over tax the charging system on a healthy Harley.

I disagree completely. I've been buying bulbs like these H4's for years http://www.ebay.com/itm/H4-9003-HB2-...3ffdb6&vxp=mtr and they last about a year (I ride about 20K miles a year). The Super White 5000K are much brighter than stock - the 6,000's are a tinge blue but these are plenty bright. Add along some brighter 896 bulbs for the spots and you are good to go. These run $5 each shipped and I just keep an extra in the bag.

I can't understand spending so much for LED's unless you're into the look of the lamp.
