I have the harley ipod interface and the iPhone 6. When I plug the iPhone into the iPod hookup the song will play for about 10-15 seconds and then shut off. When I press play on the iPhone the music will play again but not out of the fairing but the phone. All the controls on the bike still control the iPhone meaning the I can still change songs using the handlebar controls. Also it will display on the the harley radios what song it is playing. It was working fine for a couple of days and then this problem started. I have updated both the software for the radio and iPod interface on my 2011 ultra limited. I have tried connecting the phone prior to turning on the bike and when the bike is already on and it does not make a difference. Any and all help in appreciated. I am about to throw this out and go with iron cross iPod hookup but am afraid I will have the same problem.

For what it's worth, this has been happening with my Chevy equinox. I have to change the output in the phone settings to the car rather than the phone. Since this is happening to me in my car my guess is it's an iPhone 6 / IOS8 issue, not the ipod interface.

Have you tried going into the swipe up from the bottom settings and setting the correct output?

When you swipe up from the bottom of the screen you will see this:

My screen shot just shows airdrop as I am not connected to anything else now. When connected it will be split with air drop and output options.

 

I connected to a BT headset so you can see what it looks like.

 

I tried to switch the output but when it is plugged in via the lighting connector I don't get the option to switch the output. Thanks

 

That really sucks, for as much as that unit costs., Hopefully they will have an update to fix it.

I would guess HK makes that unit. I would confirm that, and then call so they are at least aware of the issue, and can either suggest a fix or start working on one.

 

Similar issues with my i5s. They seem to get worse with each ios update. Currently on 8.1. It would be nice, especially for a $400 plus dollar accessory, if HD would provide an update to the interface.

When I bought my latest bike it had the HD iPod interface installed. The interface along with the hk stereo was the worse thing ever! I took the Alpine out of the bike I was selling and put that in my new bike. I had an iPhone 5 at the time.
