I popped my primary off to take a look. All good inside. Reinstalled it all good.
Took the t27 derby screws out to remove gasket and filler back up.
When re-installing the derby, 1 screw didn't bite very well. I felt a bind.

I got my tap n die set out and saw it was a 1/4 20 thread. I re tapped it. I also checked the screw to make sure before I tapped it that the size was a 1/4 20.

Long story short nothing will grab in this hole even after re-tapping the threads in the primary. I also tried a brand new screw I bought a pack from dealer long time ago. Same thing....the new screw won't hold either.

What can I do?

 

Try taking the cover back off and fitting the screws in without the cover? I might be the cover is cocked a little and the screw is to short then?

 

Yup done that. She ain't holding. 1 screw.
What's next size up from 1/4 20?
Or is there a heli coil for this size?

 

There is certainly a Heli-coil, or better yet a Time-sert that will fix that issue.

 

Is that something I can get in a Home Depot store?
Or Lowes ??

can i chime in on this?... i have heard of the heli-coil and have seem them used, but what the heck is the time-sert?

 

And what size and do I have to drill out to a certain size to insert it?
