Default cruise control quit?

I have a "05 RKC with 30k miles. I've used the cruise control a lot. A few times lately it would quit working after I rode in the rain, but would start working again the next day. Today it's quit working again, but hasn't been wet. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what's the fix?

Check the throttle roll off switch and wiring on the idle throttle cable. The switch is part of the idle cable and is visible on the right side of the frame near the front of the fuel tank. If the idle throttle cable is out of adjustment it will not allow the cruise to operate. An easy way to check this is to just unplug 1 of the two wires on this switch and ride it and see if the cruise works. If it does the cable is out of adjustment or the switch is bad.

Skyhawk, the only way to find it (other than getting lucky) is to have a schematic (service manual) and a meter and good old fashion trouble shooting. Speaking as a mechanic now. Haven't heard of to many problems.

Had the same problem on my last bike (2K ultra). I found a loose ground strap inside the fairing. There is a wiring harness strap that bolts to the steering neck that has a ground strap connected to it. It also made my radio volume go up and down along with cancelling the cruise.

Good Luck!

Here is a photo of the problem area I found in my archives. Hope it helps.
