rear shift lever removal

Take both levers off...
Then put the front lever back on, on the outer spline. Measure the empty space from inner side of the lever to the primary case where the shaft goes through. Be sure to pull on the lever to get the correct measurement.
Then, get a piece of pipe that will fit over the shaft and cut to length to fill the gap. Paint it black, or pink if you like. Won't cost $20 bucks, and works. Ask me how I know...

Thank goodness the later posters started calling it properly "heel shifter". WTF is a rear shifter? Is that some kind of seat accessory?
Whatever...I like it and am keeping it. I don't tromp it, so doubt I'll break the seal or break the trike in half. It is quicker when ya need to get up and go....and it doesn't scuff my black and white patent leather shoes.

Guess I've ridden Harley's for so long that when I rode my son-in-laws Electra Glide Classic during the summer without the rear shifter, it just seemed out of place. Never got used to the feel, and yet I rode Honda's for a zillion years without the rear shifter before riding Harley's.
While I like the cleaner look of a single-shifter, it's twin-shifters for me on my Ultra. Yeah, that's what I call it since the heal on my boot isn't what makes contact with it, and the word 'shifter' sure shows up a lot in my Harley service manual.

Did it
Take the rear off. Slide the front shift lever to outer edge (position where the rear lever used to be). Measure the gap, not including the oem rubber spacer already there. Then take the rubber from the rear shifter peg. Cut it to that size. Now you have a spacer that will work to eliminate the rear shift lever and looks kinda cool.
