Default Dented seat

Have had a backrest on the FLHX for the 3 years I've owned it, and took it off the other day to get it ready for a trade-in (new FLTRXS on the way...). Where the back rest came up through the seat slot has been in contact with the seat for 3 years, and has caused two "dents" in the rear side of the seat slot. I've massaged those dents and tried to push the dents out, but they just don't want to return to normal.

Anybody have any tricks to remove those dents and restore the seat to normal? Also, the seat slot has opened up quite a bit, and needs to be tightened up a bit. Sort of looks like John Holmes has been working on it. Any ideas there?

The dents and opening should mend by itself. Ride the bike without the backrest installed. Mine repairs itself over time.

If you're trading it, why worry about it?

I promise the dealer won't.

Most seats have a seat strap that covers the backrest slot.
Do you still have the strap?

I wouldn't worry about it but you can heat the seat with a hair dryer if it really bothers you.
