Ape Hangers wobble
#21
As well pull back and angle. Those can greatly affect stability. A set of narrow buckhorns, and I can barely control the bike, any bike. It's like trying to ride with a tiller instead of handlebars. Wide and square, like a dirt bike, and I can much more solidly wrestle the front end and keep it from moving when catching ruts, or bobbling in a turn.

Put 10" MB on my road glide a year ago. I love them.
BUT... Yes, I felt a wobble feeling that I never felt before.
After a year of it, I really do think it is just a slight exaggeration of my own behavior. Although, in high speed sweeps I swear those bars want to wiggle.
But, I am likely slightly jerky with my "sweep" and unaware it is me, not the bars.
Also, I can take my hands off on the straightaways and that bike goes absolutely straight and smooth. So, I am guessing it is my hands on the bars and my input that causes what I feel.
It is very slight, and I learned to live with it and not over-think it.
So, I totally agree with you that after apes you may feel an exaggeration or subtle wobble. However, barring any real problem, it is likely your input on the bars and the natural feeling exaggerated by the height of your hands.
Hope that helps.

In crosswinds I can get some "sailing" that I think is from the wind catching my arms that are all aped up. It does do a little wobbling occasionally at higher speeds but I feel it is just exaggeration from the bars being so much taller and any movement I make gets multiplied. Just one of the fun things of running apes.
