Never had an issue on a bike after installing apes that was not present before they were installed. The added leverage from apes can certainly accentuate issues that were already present.

Check front tire for cupping.

What model and year of bike? We struggled with this problem on my sons Roadking. Believe it or not we think it's related to what he's wearing. When he wears just a riding vest and no windshield when he reaches about 70 mph he gets a wobble. When he wears his leather riding jacket ,same conditions, no wobble. I believe the vest is creating a kind of sail effect that causes his arms to shake and therefore it's transmitted to the bars. He insists on riding with out the windshield and he has the bars fairly vertical. Weird but true at this time? We are still determining if it's really that or some kind of weird coincidence??

These are pretty far apart so I guess that works to my advantage holding things steady.

Distance apart can be a good thing.. Front to back is where the issue is...

Thanks for all the input ,the bike is 2008 street glide .Never liked the way it tracked before the bars so you guys are probably right something was there before and the bars just made it more noticeable . I have been thinking about the riser bushings because you can really feel the movement with the bigger bars .When I do the bushings I can check the bearings . I was going to replace the front mount and control arm bushings this winter just for piece of mind and maybe if I get Ambitious a 180 tire mod.
Little off topic , but I do really like the 14 inch apes

Good luck, I had a 2007 SG that I could never get to stop wobbling in the high speed sweepers (even after installing a truetrack type device). Finally gave up and got rid off the sob. On the other hand, if you are just getting a frontend shake at different speeds due to mechanical problems or tire issues, that can be fixed. Doubt apes have anything to with the issue.

You could well be right. In addition, if he feels the vest flapping around he probably grips the bars tighter, which can add to the problem.
