I leave the adjustment the same when solo. The shocks are set with the preload almost all the way off, maybe just a turn or two. It is a little stiff when solo, but its good when 2-up. Two up its still stiffer than the original shocks but we don't bottom out.
The bottoming out is what really hurt the wifes back. To me the little stiffer ride feels more controlled, kinda like comparing a Town Car to a Z-28. My front end is a little stiff from changing to SE Heavy shock oil and the somewhat stiffer rear end seems to match up better to the front end.
If you ride solo a lot you probably would want to change to the lighter springs. I have thought about changing springs but mama seems happy and I hate to screw that up.LOL

Been running 940's for a couple of years now. If you're a lightweight you'll hate them. If you've got a little heft to you and ride 2up, you'll like them. I'm 250lb and the wife is 160lb, she's much happier with the ride, which means I'm happy.

Hope these shocks work out for you so you don't have to spend countless hours researching shocks with opinions all over the place, plus and minus, and reading vendor mouthpieces hucking expensive shocks that when it comes down to it, is a pair of three inch shocks supporting the *** end of a 900 pound MC with 300+ pounds of body weight stacked on top. those highly touted racing shocks are sometimes better suited for track days with a solo 140 pound rider with a crew to tweak the damping when the barometric pressure changes.

seems just about any aftermarket shock product will be better than stock, but maybe just better to some degree and not up to each product's hyperbola.

Your results may vary, past performance cannot predict future results.

I screwed up when I ordered my Progresive set up(944 HD's and Monotubes). I'm about 220 and don't do much two up at all. Did not need the heavy duty springs I think. Also, when I installed the monotubes I added both spacers. Mistake number two right there. The ride is certainly better than stock but more extreme to the stiff side now. I don't want to tear apart the front end again...but might need to this winter.
