Default Options for Cruise Controll on 2000 RK??

I got a 2000 RK and want to install cruise. What are the options out there or can I take cruise from an older FLH and install it? Any one tried this or have opinions would be great thanks

I think the modern cruise is only for ride by wire bikes, so no.

There are aftermarket cruise controls but they aren't as good. They are pretty much just fancy throttle locks.

OP, you do have a throttle lock, which can take strain off the hand ( thumbwheel tensioner under the control housing- some new H-D riders don't know this is there) or add a 'throttle boss" to your grip.

otherwise it ain't gonna be easy or any safer ( maybe) or cheap

Hated the thumb wheel lock. Bought the Breakaway cruise. Push button operated. Yes it's basically a fancy throttle lock but works awesome. Push button release, or in a pinch, also releases on use of hand brake lever. Not a bad set up. Note I had to buy the metric version to fit my after market grips.

I used the throttle spinner yesterday seem to work ill just buy a longer arm that they make so its easier to use otherwise that breakaway looks decent.

Was it a regular Roadking or a police roadking. I put it on a 2000 police road king but it was harder to do because police bikes don't have any of the wiring for cruise. Other wise if you remove your left (as you sit on the bike) side cover there is a module that is a cruise servo that you buy that bolts to the side of the battery box. There should already be a cable there with correct end to mate with this servo (cable is from main harness). Then you get new switch control modules for cruise control that come with that kit. They plug into the harness at the headlight nacelle area. You have to route the servo cable along backbone of bike to the (Carb in my case) area. The carb should have a **** on it that the servo cable attaches to . This allows the servo to pull the throttle when cruise is working. You will feel the throttle grip turning with it as it's attached to the carb as well. The new throttle by wire systems can do it all electronically so there is no throttle movement. I hope that helps? If you can still get the parts ( i have done a few for other years for friends) then it's really not that big of a job?

Cruise from a '99-'01 will work but the main parts are no longer available. I've got a used modal and switch I was gonna put on my '00 RK for cheap if ya want it. Ya'll need to "cobble" the wiring to make it work.
