Default New Tires?

OK its time to replace my original tires on my 2012 Street Glide - I got 12k mikes out of the factory ones!

Looks like they were Dunlop

D408F 130/70B18 M/C 63H
D407 180/65B16 M/C 81H

I assume these are HD part numbers as they have the Harley logo and name on the tires?

Whats every one running? Best source for pricing?

I didn't mind the originals got good miles and performance out of them...

I put Michelin Commander II'S on my 12 street glide and love them. Do a little online searching for best deals.

+1 on the American Elites.
Love them.

I ordered mine through my local Honda shop. They matched internet pricing and installed them for $38 each.
Beat the Harley shop by $225.

If kept properly inflated you still should have gotten 15 to 16 K on those factory Dunlops.

I have 17k on my factory rear tire and still have tread left. I do plan on changing it out this winter tho. I changed the front one out at 4k mi. when I did a 21" upgrade.

I put an Avon Cobra on the rear of my 2011 Ultra Limited yesterday and have ridden about 100 miles on it, both one and two up. I bought it from Motorcycle Superstores for $165.00 shipped. Pulled the wheel myself and had it mounted and balanced at a local indy for $40.00.

So far my impression is this:

With the stock Dunlop it seemed like I had to fight it to get it to corner sometimes at both low and high speeds.

The Avon sticks like glue and takes some getting used to because I just think about turning and its goes. Because the tire is more rounded, it has what seems like a smaller straight line contact patch. I will be putting a new Avon Cobra on the front next month.

Those tire numbers reflect:

180 -Width

65 - Aspect ratio (meaning the tire is 65% as high as it is wide).

B-Bias

16- Diameter

MC - Motorcycle.

81H-Service index / load.

Any brand tire you by needs to have those numbers.

Just put American Elites on my RK. Put 3000 miles on them and really like them.

Jake Wilson was the best price, great service, fast.
