I scoured the aftermarket world, even considered a complete setup from the good people at DK and it wasn't aesthetic enough for me, as well as would run me $200+. So, just like changing lifters and adjusting push-rods I self taught myself how to tap a hose barb on the breather brace (see my pics).
I did a 200+ mile run today and my by-pass worked flawlessly with a normal amount of oil BB dripping from the end of my atmosphere hose. What I found interesting is there was very little BB vented to the hose cruising 70 MPG and under. It wasn't till I came back the super-slab route running in excess of 85+ was there BB venting down the hose, which collaborates everything I've read.
The hose barb by-pass route is my preferred method of breather venting and will do the same should my wife ever let me stage 1 her FXDC.

Just to clarify, we have air cleaners that have the external breather system built in for as little as $148.95, and we have a variety of external breather systems that work with many other air cleaners besides ours. They range in price from $29.95 to 49.95.
You can see them all HERE

I've read these blow-by fix threads for years now. I admit that I keep planning on doing it, if for no other reason than it's a cool mod. I haven't done it because I don't think that my bike has a need for it. My reasoning is that I never have to add oil between oil changes, my a/c cover never has any oil residue in it, and I never ever get any oil residue on the eng. case under the a/c. When I pull the spark plugs they both have the nice tan color with no trace of oil/carbon on them.
Am I missing something here?
