I had mine on the frame like Greg but it did get oil film on frame & primary. Now just have it hang down can see what's going on that way. Most the time there is nothing but like yesterday did a burn out & there was a drip. Colder days get milky snot or just water drips when in the 40°f

It's kinda hard to see on this side, had to get on the ground to take pic.

Re: Straight Thread Vs. Tapered Thread

I'm not sure if this is the info you are looking for but

a straight thread is the thread you would find on a bolt and nut.
a tapered thread is the thread you would find on water/gas pipe connections.

a tapered thread is a sealing thread.
a straight thread is an axial load bearing thread.
a straight thread does NOT seal by itself but needs a gasket or needs to be part of a tapered surface to seal. an AN/SAE fitting has a straight thread and the sealing surfaces are mating cones.
I found out that the breather bolts are 3/8X16 coarse thread bolts, so no AN fittings that anyone mass manufactures will work. I do have an idea and if it works I will share it, but it brings me to a question for the guru's///
How far into the head does the breather bolt have to go?? does it have to bottom our or can it simply screw partially into the head?

In the meantime since I had to clean my air cleaner anyway and tested out some theories, I went ahead and blocked the holes in my FM backplate with pieces of hose and #10 bolts, washers and nylock nuts. Then I cut the stock breather tubes along with some silicon hose to route the breathers to air. I'll take pics later on.

no guru here but they only need to thread into the head. have no idea what you're thinking but don't plug those bolt holes going into the heads off completely, they need to vent.

Thats what I was thinking..Not plugging the holes, thinking of using a bolt to FPT cap and then NPT to AN adapter. Hoping this idea works. In my head it is the cleanest so far...and I had a few different ideas, so far none of which were easy.

I just pulled my filter to check after 2000 miles and no oil and everything was still in place. I used to get a teaspoon or so of oil build up on the inside of the filter and there was nothing. This seems to be working great for me. Hope it works well in yours.

Looks like it's gonna work. Took an npt cap, drilled a 3/8 hole in it and tapped it. Cut the head off a breather Bolt and threaded it in. Just have to locate or solder the bolt in place, spray the fitting black and install.

Close to 1,000 miles since this mod, and really like it so far. Seat of pants feeling of more power, and it works as far as eliminating that hot dirty air going into the TB.
