Default Hd gauge trim rings

I bought a set of the small trim rings for the fuel, temp pressure and volt gauges' and it came with this tiny strip of 2 sided scotch tpe looking stuff. My guess is I will need to remove the gauges to put them on, but I'm not sure this stuff will hold it tight.

Anyone do anything different to make sure they stay on?

Also bought the set for my speedo and tach, but they don't fit, thet are too small, so I will have to send them back. Must have ordered the wrong part #

I guess I will see how good or bad kutter is with returns.

It'll stick but you only get one chance to put it on correctly.

Don't have to remove gauges first, clean them, peel the backing off the tape and stick them on. They've been holding for 50k so far

I've installed three sets on three different bikes and never used the double-sided tape. Used clear silicone and never had any of them come loose or fall off. You can place them firmly onto the gauge and you're able to make sure they all fit exactly the same depth so they match. I've seen some done with the double-sided tape and for whatever reason, some of the rings didn't set down onto the gauge at the same depth, maybe due to how the tape was applied.

I ended up putting them on with the provided tape/glue. They seem to be on pretty secure.

If the sticky fails, I will try some clear silicone.

I emailed kutter HD, on the other rings for the speedo and tach, I did see their return policy, with a 10% restocking fee! shipping and return shipping it may not be worth it to return them. We shall see, but I may just list them on eBay.

but to be fair, the tape does work as long as it's a clean and oil-free surface
