Default Left rear shock leaking - is there a fix?

Leaking from the bottom of the left rear shock. I replaced the shock oil at the beginning of the season, could this have caused it? Is there a fix?

I didn't pull the shock yet to see if I can pin point the leak.

Have you checked to make sure everything is tight?

I had the same shock leak. Ended up buying a new one (pretty expensive by the way) and changing the fluid out in it to match the other side. No issues with it in the last 20k miles

I do not know if there is a fix, per se. But what better opportunity to upgrade to a better shock. At least for me, I would not spend a dime fixing what I perceive to be the worst shocks made. If/when my stock air shocks fail, I would upgrade too, pretty much......... any other shock.

Probably blew a seal...fix is just as $pendy as replacing. Like others state...good opportunity for upgrading to something a tad more comfy.

For someone that has never had a problem with how the stock shocks feel... ebay. Stock takes offs on there about all the time for 100 bucks.

HD shocks are very similar if not the same as early Gold Wing shocks - here's a thread about rebuilding them.

I haven't had any issues with these stock shocks, so I will probably just replace with another set of air shocks.

I am pretty sure the shocks changed in 09, as they take higher psi. I am pretty certain they will fit, but want to know for sure. Also with the change, are they better or should I stick to the 97-08 version?

Found a set on eBay from an 09 that were removed around 5k miles. Thinking they should bolt right up. Still would like to know what the difference is in them since they can take more PSI.

If for some reason they don't fit, they were only $50

I had a shock leak on my one-year old Limited. Took it to the dealer and they could find no problem. After the ride home it leaked more oil, so I took pictures and went back to the dealer with the evidence. It turned out that the shock was actually leaking from the weld where the shock tube is welded to the mounting eyelet. They replaced it under warranty.
