Default Deal or not, Saddlebags?

Ive got the leather bags on my king now. Been wanting to put the hard ones on for a while. Buddy has came across some, they are gonna need to be repainted (different color) Complete bags and the guy wants to trade me for my bags, plus me give him 100 boot.. Ill be out money to paint them and I think one will have to have a new latch. Deal or no?

How old are they? I wouldn't put old ones on a 12 but other than that the deal sounds good.

It depends on how much it costs to prep and paint them to match your bike and how old they are.

Id say no. I paid 750.00 shipped for my color matched bags new. I got them from Surdyke. I sold my leather bags for 400.00. There is slim chance you will get your bags painted and have them look factory for 350.00. Just my opinion...

why does the other guy think you should kick in $100 - if they are comparable age/condition I'd think the leather ones would be worth more... and his has a bad latch

I wouldn't. I did the same as TheMouth.....paid $750 for color matched HD bags on Ebay and sold mine for $450. No painting involved.....got 'em and popped them on. Oh and then went to the stealer and spent another $50.00 to get the bag locks matched to my ignition key so I don't need multiple keys for my bike.

I wouldn't.

If they were already the right color - you bet.... but not for the headache you have ahead of you......

Do you know how to save searches in Ebay?? I have a saved search for "Harley Tequila Sunrise" - my bike color..... Every time someone list someone on ebay with those buzz words, I get an email.....

I was able to snag color matched bags and lids for $350, all I had to buy was latches.....

Save an ebay search and be patient.... just my $.02

Saw the bags last night... Some minor road rash at the bottom of one but nothing a tad bit of sanding cant get rid of. It will need a new latch. And a buddy said he could slick them down and shoot them for 100 bucks, so Im thinking I could be into these bags for less than 300..
