Default Airhawk vs. HD Zeppelin Comfort Pads??

The Airhawk pillion pads have great reviews but not so many for the HD Zeppelin pads. Anyone have the HD model and care to give an opinion?

The Airhawks runs between $30-$50 more than the HD but I'm not concerned so much about the cost as the quality.

Thanks.

We used the Airhawk this year on our Summer trip. :-) at the end of the day! Last year could hardly walk at the end of day two. I would have to give it two thumbs up !

Have an Airhawk on the pillion pad on my CVO RK. Much improved comfort, so my wife tells me. I don't use one, as I find my seat ok

I bought the airhawk 2, cheaper and does the job. My goal is to pick up a used Zeppelin seat soon, but this was a quick and cheap band aid if you will.

There are three ways of improving comfort, of which the seat is only one. Aftermarket tyres wisely chosen will give a smoother and more compliant ride, but the greatest improvement IMHO is decent shocks. Mrs B and I can ride longer days and more of them thanks to using good quality shocks - something most Harleys do not have!

So by all means consider an improved arrangement for seating (we have a Corbin), but also consider the other factors, for best results.

I have the HD Zeppelin pad. Have done a couple 1200 plus mile trips with it. As far as quality it is holding up well. When I took my first trip I wanted to see what difference in comfort it would make so I started out without it to see how far I could go before but started to burn, then stop and use pad and see if there was a difference. Burn started at about 100 miles then put pad on and it did not help much for next hundred. What worked best is starting out with the pad adjusted with a little air. I could go a full 170 miles ( when I normally stop for gas) and no burn, gas up go another 170 and still comfortable. Hope this helps.

p.s. Good luck with you new bike! I used to enjoy your comments and pics when I had my Suede Blue RKC.

I picked up the Zeppelin rider pad for the road trip to PA this summer after having sore-butt syndrome doing it last year, and it made all the difference. Can't speak to the Airhawk, but the HD cushion kept my butt from ever hurting on the 2500 miles we road. I took it off just recently to ride out about 50 miles, and my butt was not nearly as happy. It went back on as soon as I got home.
