Unhappy Crashed...

Crashed my 95 RK. Most damage to right rear bag, mounts, guards etc. broken elbow also. Any thoughts on the fiberglass vrs ABS bags? Mine are fiberglass, and i like the rigidity of them. I was told the ABS has more flex to them. Is that true?

ABS have a bit more flex, but I haven't found it to be bad.

Hope your elbow heals quickly!!

Don't think that there's any significant difference in usability between ABS and fiberglass. Just gonna depend what is available, I think. Glad you came out more or less okay.

ABS will flex more, but that wil keep them from busting as easily as fiberglass. i personally would rather have ABS.

Fiberglass can be repaired. Might be too costly to make it practical. But I'd ask/look around. Maybe boat builders…? It being just the one bag, you can pick one up on eBay and have it painted to match. Re-use your hardware.

I had fiberglass bags on my last bike. I've got ABS on this one. I don't notice any functional difference myself, e.g., undue flex or anything like that.

The ABS bags do not have the same capacity rating as the fiberglass and will shake a bit more than the fiberglass. have had them on another cruiser and DID NOT like them. Without substantial support on back side, will bounce around a bit. Mine were not even as deep as yours will be.

Would always recommend OEM over aftermarket in this instance, even with the additional cost.
