One little item to add to great tool list give by Ram, that is a set of "ignition wrenches"! Okay, so i'm over 40 and i know what they are... There's several places on the HD Ultra that these little guys are very useful for getting to when needed. In fact, i had a weld nut come off on my saddle bag mount and the dealer could get it tighten down with the replacement nut. i went to good old Sears and got the ignition wrenches, less than $10 bucks, and i was able to tighten the little devil!!! These wrenches go where the big guys fear to thread!!!

Depending on the type of oil filter you use, you'll need an oil filter wrench, or socket for K&N filters.

Also will need a good grease gun and oil drain pan. And, a good seat on casters will make your life a lot easier while the bike is on the lift.

And, don't forget to buy that air compressor so you can keep your tires properly inflated.

And, sometimes a propane torch comes in handy to loosen bolts and nuts tightened with "red" locktite.

And, . . .

You know, by the time you buy all of these tools, you might need to sell your bike!

just how indepth do you plan on getting in the repairs?
Just basic maintenance you don't need much.
You can go cheap (Harbor freight) moderate (sears craftsman) or pricey (snap-on)
Basic tool kit of about 100 pieces would have most everything you need.
But basically a 3/8 drive socket set with short and deep sockets.
Screw driver set
pliers slip joint and needle nose wire cutters
a pencil magnet for things you drop and can't reach
Basic wrench set 1/4 to 15/16
A good set of torks bits be sure 25 and 27 is in it or buy separately.
And allen wrenches.
And definitely a service manual to explain how to do most things.

Yea, a 16 ounce hammer and a 25-75 ft-lb torque wrench from Sears for about $60.

I have the Snap-On tool set, he comes by the shop every week, had to buy something. I agree with RAM, go to sears with the list and duplicate for a lot less money. I heard someone else on the forum say that they used a Ditty bag/shaving kit bag to hold everything. Today was slow in the shop so I put new grips on my Service Writers bike, and shift extenders on mine, I used the tool kit just to see if I'd need anything else, so far they have got things covered.
