I had to take off my crash bar because I put forward controls on & they used the same holes.
I can tell you, if you drop it, you'll be wanting that bar back.
If you leave it off, I'd suggest leaving on the ones in front of your bags.
Those do help keep it off your leg.
And I LOVE your front wheel!
Do you feel like the braking is any less since taking off a rotor?
Is it a 21"?
To me, the running lights and engine guard are part of the Road King "look". Also, I keep my running lights on all the time so I'm more visible to on-coming cars.
I dropped mine on a parking deck ramp at Myrtle Beach.
That saddle bag guard kept it off my leg but if I'd had the crash bar, I might not have broken off my foot peg or busted my turn signal.
