RE: The Official Streetglide "Picture" Thread
I Purchased my 06 in September of 05 took the stock engine out, put alot of money and time into it to have a wheelie pulluing bagger. Dyno test show 120hp with 118 ft lbs of torque. Added all the custom things I needed to make me and the wife happy, tourpack, lots of chrome, etc, etc the one thing we overlooked was the engine mounts, found out the hard way they are not made to take that kind of torque. Went in the shop for service and lwo a behold the Front Engine Mount is broken the rubber dropped out of the steel sleeve, dropped 1 1/2 inches. Shop mechanic thought I was going to be mad as a hornet, I was not I laughed my butt off, considering how I ride I was suprised they lasted that long. So after doing some research I have yet to find a "beefer" engine mount yet, if anyone knows of a company or someone who has gone through this and come up with a beefer mount please let me know. As I have no warranty left on the scooter, I would like to be able to find a more permanent fix than the 43.00 HD part which I am sure I will break again. :P
As for all the pictures on here lots of nice scooters, I like seeing all the FLHX pics from all the people who have taken the time to customize their rides. Being a vertically challenged rider (AKA short in the inseam) the street glide was the ultimate fix for me and the Wife. I will put some pics on here of my slightly modified FLHXI ( I say this with a smirk on my face nothing beats the look on a guys face when he gets beat off the light by a "Geezer Glilde" and they are on their 60k custom with "big" Bad motor.)
Harley did a great job with getting the "Bagger" in the mainstream with the FLHX it appeals to many many people who would not normally ride a "geezer Glide" but at 36 I am the Proud Owner of one and would not trade mine for 4 Non Baggers, or 20 Hondas. (BTW before anyone takes that the wrong way I am not one who thinks the only bike out there is a HD< Have owned many kinds of Scooters, the bike does not make the rider, the riders attitude makes the bike,)
