this is one sharp SG--excellent job
ORIGINAL: onlythebest

I finally got it Christmas eve. Got a few more things to do to top it off but I can honestly say I am very impressed with this bike. It is truly the best machine I have ever owned! More images to come.

Thanks to Jeff and BH and several others for ideas and advice. 1400 miles in two weeks! I cant get enough of it! Went down to key west and got my cherry broken with a heavy rain storm near Miami right after I detailed it.

Great ride!

Just got my seat finished. I took the HD Sidekick seat and added some marine grade stifffoam near the tailbone area to push me forward about 1.5 inches (everytime I hit the throttle The stock HD foam just would not hold). I had the Red Iron Cross stiched into the rear and then recovered it in new leather with some red stiching. Very comfortable and looks great. $250 locally.

Onlythebest---That is a sweet looking bike.

I am now seriously considering the HD Sidekick seat for when I ride solo and keep the stocker for when I ride with my gf.

Like the red piping.

Also did you blacken the dash?

Yes I did blackout the dash (powdercoat)then it looked empty and plain and I almost added the FLHX logo strip back but my 8yr old daughter came up with the idea to putthe iron crossconcho on it.

As for the seat, appearance wise its great, comfort wise it needed the extra padding to stop you from sinking into the factory foam everytime you hit it. It follows the flow of the bike, and tank all the way down to the rear fender, works well I think.

Thanks for the comments! One day I will do some custom paint like yours just have to think up somthing unique.
I have a few more things to black out but mostly small items like the exposed seat bracket and screw along with the rear tail light assembly. I am borderline overboard with the black so that will be it.

Be safe

I am actually blacking out a lot myself.
I grabbed the rear peg mounts, floorboard mounts, the a/c bracket (looks like crap bare metal from the MoCo) as well as the rear passenger grab rail and rail side covers.

Do you have a pic of the dash/tank from the rear (like if you were sitting on the bike?) Just looking for more stuff to take off, sandblast (or kill chrome as my buddies call it) and paint detail.

Best, I have one more thing you can paint to finish off the look. Have a shop take a set of reflectors that go in the bag insersts and paint them with black candy. That way they are blacked out but since the candy is transparent they still reflect light.
