Default Had a truly humbling experience..

This past weekend, I participated in a poker run for our local Special Olympics. Had just finished the sign-up, and was getting the bike ready for the ride when I was approached by a young man who I had noticed in the registration line behind me. He stated that he wanted to shake my hand and thank me for being a member of the PGR. He stated that he had seen my small PGR patch and pins on my vest, and he felt he had to say something.

I shook his hand, and thanked him. We talked for a little bit about the poker run, and our bikes (he was riding an older Yamaha, and I could tell he was a little embarrassed by all the hogs in the parking lot). As he was getting ready to leave, I remembered that the local PGR was having a Welcome Home mission coming up, and invited him to come along and ride with us.

This was when I found out that he had just gotten home from Iraq. He said that when he left to go overseas....he saw PGR and Legion Riders there to support him and the other troops, and when he got home....he saw PGR and Legion Riders there to show their support. He said it meant a lot to him, and to a lot of the other troops.

This was a truly humbling experience for me, and reinforced the MISSION of the PGR for me.

Thank you to all our troops, and to all of our veterans for the job they do and have done to protect this great land of ours!!!!!!!!

Great story!

Let's remember the true reason we became members of the PGR. It's not about US, it's about THEM.

Thank you, servicemen and women, active or retired....and thank you, all those who have paid the ultimate price for your service. You will NEVER be forgotten!

I'm humbled at every mission, whether it's a welcome home, interment, etc.

I went on a funeral escort with a buddy for a fallen Marine in our area. The escort went as planned to the funeral home for a young 21 yearold hero. We went across town of about 100,000 afterward and ate reflecting on the escort when a man his wife and daughter came in, He continued to our table asking if we had done the escort for the Marine today. We responded yes and he took our bill and said "Thankyou and this is mine " I could barely get thankyou out of my mouth as he walked away. We stopped to thank this stranger for our lunch and found out his daughter was good friends with this fallen Marine and she was impressed we didnot know him at all and still took the time to 'Do the right thing'. I also had a button on with his picture and was able to give it to her, I will remember that day and others with great satifaction knowing that supporting these Familys and soldiers is an honor and privalage. I encourage anyone who is thinking about joining go on a mission with the PGR your lifes out look will change.

One of our western Mn soldiers was so moved by our attendance at five send-offs in one day, that he sent us a T-shirt from the middle east. Receiving that was a special experience for me.

Our state VFW made patches and presented to us for what we have done on behalf of the troops, fallen heroes, and veterans.

Here, here! Well said.

Too many riders get caught up in the patches and the show, its ALL about our Brothers and Sisters in uniform.
