ACLU Joins Westboro Baptist Church... Sue to Protest at Soldier's Funerals

Two notorious anti-American groups joined up in Missouri to sue for the right to hold disgusting protests at the funerals of US soldiers who died in combat.

The American Civil Liberties Union sued Maplewood today on behalf of a controversial Kansas-based church that protests at the funerals of soldiers, alleging that the city's funeral protest ban is unconstitutional.
The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in St. Louis, is a first in eastern Missouri but part of a broader effort by the ACLU to go after state and local laws that have been passed in recent years targeting funeral protests, said Tony Rothert, legal director of the ACLU of Eastern Missouri.
Missouri and Illinois are among the more than two dozen states and the federal government that have passed similar laws. Many, if not all, were prompted by the activities of the Westboro Baptist Church and founder Fred Phelps, who believe that America is being punished ...

Some how I am not surprised at all at this news. I 've thought all along that the cops in the towns where these idiots demonstrate should arrest them all for provoking a disturbance at the funerals they choose to protest at. It's disorderly conduct in Wisconsin and I am certain other states have laws that are similar. Freedom of speech is one thing but when it interferes with a grieving family that is stepping way over the line.

ACLU in cahoots with the WBC
All,
And this is what makes America so great. Freedom of speech. I am a career soldier with 26 years in, I have loaded remains in Afghanistan and I have escorted remains in here as a member of the PGR. I truly hate these "church members" for what they do to the parents of those killed, but I defend their Freedom of speech. On the other hand, I will continue to do as many missions as I can with the PGR, in order to keep these idiots presence behind a flagline, and shield the parents and relatives of the deceased from further pain and agony.
Folks, America is truly a great country. These people would get imprisoned or killed in other countries, and they are also parents and uncles and grandparents just like you and me, so somebody would suffer from their lose.
Keep that in mind and join the PGR and do as many missions as possible so we can neutralize their protests.

So...
The ACLU action will force the Legislature to write a law that CAN stand scrutiny. That should be considered a good thing, shouldn't it?
I'd have thought that a Good American would support the insistence that laws meet proper constitutional criteria. As much as I detest the WBC, the fact remains that some laws may have been poorly written and need to be readdressed. All in all, a good thing!
The WBC will be taken care of...

I know that many places require a free certificate that allows organizations to gather peacefully (as the first amendment allows). This certificate allows the city to plan (traffic to be diverted around the rally, provide proper oversight such as porta-johns, medical facilities if weather is hot, etc). I do know some places, when dealing with the KKK, neo-*****, Black Panthers, etc will "misplace" their paperwork for their rally certificate to ensure the KKK and Black Panthers are not marching on the same day.

Jumpmaster,
I think they need a permit from the city (city hall) to protest legally. Have you seen the schedule for the WBC?
its posted in http://www.godhatesfags.com
they are even picketing an FBI conference in Quantico, lol

J,
If they evolve, it would not probably be in a way that any attacks could be tied to them, they would say "he took it upon himself" to attack, and leave it to the legal system to prove anything.
If they started doing their things here, at least we would stay home, no more deployments, lol.
Check out this flyer, they will be in your AO today:
