I agree. That photo breaks your heart as well as being at a funeral for a falling soldier. I couldn't imagine the feeling being on this flight and being one of these folks staring out the window either.

my first funeral..I watched the young widow and mother scream and cry..she begged God to let her go with him. She tried to climb in the casket. That was a sight I never want to see again

Sadly, this is a part of what we signed up for. But there are other missions that will give you the warm and fuzzy feelings inside. The joy of seeing a young family re-united and the total happiness of all involved.
To have the family of a deceased solider, with tears in their eyes, stop to thank you for being there to honor the child that they have lost.
This is the job that needs to be done. There are sad missions and then there are happy missions.
