All those pins and patches purchased by the members created a profit of over $145.000.00 in 2007 of which over $140,000.00 was donated to Wounded Veterans or Gold Star Families in need.

Many say the trademark battle is about money, and to some extent thats true. The PGR uses the money to the benefit of families and Veterans, and is accountable....the opposer uses it, for whatever he deems is important, and is accountable to no one.

Good point. I have only been an active PGR member for a few months, but I would assume that the PGR is a non-profit org. If that is the case, then why would Twister (Jeff Brown) put up a fight with the PGR with revenues and donations as described above. I hate to jump to conclusions, but I can't help but question the motive for the complaint.

PGR is a Federally recognized 501c3 not for profit organization. Because of this, the organization is required by law to post all the financial information, which it does on the PGR website.

There are probably only 2 people who can explain the motivation of the opposer to challenge the trademark application, and that would be himself, or his banker.

Respects,
Ed

Bingo!! There are two PGR "stores". I think PGR could be obliged to pay some form of restitution for all logo items that have been sold via the "official" PGR store if they are not the owner of the trademark but in reality, the objective may well be the reverse. If the former PGR president were to "own" the trademark, then he might not be required to release documentation regarding any profits he makes.

First I've heard of this. Does seem pretty trivial. Funny how money screws up everything

Exactly.
A friend and me were talking yesterday about this and I basically told him the same thing. It's about honoring the fallen, that's the bottom line. ***** all the political, money oriented bull****. Happens to many once good organizations. It's a shame it's happening to this one.

Hey Ed, how ya been? You probably don't remember me, but I used to ride with the IL PGR when my wife and I lived in the Chicago area.

I was one of those that was extremely upset when I learned how Twister had that store set up. My wife and I bought flags, armbands, windshield banner, etc., because we thought the money was going to the PGR and for good causes. When we found out that it was lining Twister's pocket and he gave back what he wanted, well, there were some unpleasant thoughts on this end. Hopefully, he does not get control of the logo legally.

i dont know much about PGR... But i have seen them in action delivering a soldier home this past year to my home town. there was a huge parade for him and he was being escorted by PGR, i assume, 30-40 Harleys with flags flying. This is a sight ill never forget. i just hope this doesnt mean somepeople are loosing sight of the GOAL! Keep up the good work folks!

it's a shame for it to come to this....

BIGMACK - you've got the right idea - let's remember why the organization was formed... to honor our warriors!

Listen to what wescoot2 is saying. Ed knows allot of the little details. The PGR must retain control over their own name.
