Default Watched a funeral procession today (Updated)

I'm posting this here because I want more people to read it and understand.

I was at Starbucks this morning having a cup of coffee and reading the paper. I noticed that the body of a local fallen soldier was going to be transported from our local airport, through our town and to a town just north of here. The fallen soldier was also a local law enforcement officer and there were gonna be lots of LEO's and last but not least, The Patriot Guard, escorting his body. A few minutes into my coffee I noticed the Local PD blocking the intersection where I was. I thought to myself, too bad for the Patriot Guard Riders due to the snow that was coming down pretty hard at that time. I figured that part of the procession would be a wash. To my surprise, when the procession came by, who was right up front but the Patriot Guard Riders on their Harleys with their flags flying proud behind their bikes. It brought a tear to my eye. It was slick as snot out and about 25 degrees but that didn't stop them. The fallen soldier has a wife and 4 very young children. The procession lasted a good ten minutes with people standing in the snow along the road watching it go by and waiving flags.

RIP Jared Southworth

I'm adding this today at the request of several members. If you wish to donate feel free to send a check to the address below. I (as admin at HDF) have checked it out and it is legit. This is in my county and I am familiar with the bank.

Jared’s children are the primary benefactors of the fund. Donations should be made out to “Family of Jared Southworth”

Some things are far too important to worry about the weather. I would have done the same.

Good post Terry. I spent my time in service as well and understand the sacrafice this men and women had and are making. I hear a lot about the Patriot Guard here and believe they are highly respected. How does one become a member? TIA.

My daughter (Army MP) is heading to the sandbox next month. God bless our troops and all of us that support them. God will open the gates to heaven for another brave soldier. Thanks Terry.

I've made about a dozen missions with the pgr. The feeling you get is awesome. I would advise anyone who loves this country and it's defenders to go on line and check it out. I just wish i had joined earlier.
