Illinois Helmet law...
The Demacrooks in Illinois are pushing a mandatory Helmet law to be voted on tomarrow before the state Senate. It doesn't look good.
I'm sick of these liberal bastards making choices for me and taking away my freedoms.
Here is a copy from an e-mail I recieved from our republican Senator...
Recently an Illinois Senate Committee approved legislation which would make helmets mandatory for motorcycle riders. It came out of Committee 6 to 4 with all Democrats voting for the proposal and all Republicans against it.
Having passed Committee, the bill will be considered by the full Senate. This is likely before the end of the month. The legislation is SB 1351.
I oppose government mandates which infringe on our personal freedoms. I will be voting no on the legislation which will take away a rider's choice.
As further important matters come before the Senate this Session, I will be in touch.
Sincerely,
Dan Rutherford
We might be in trouble kids!!! I mean us non helmet wearing bikers. I don't see why anybody in the world should care whether or not I wear a helmet.

this is not good. as a fellow illinois resident i am also upset that our lawmakers are going to force us to wear helmets. even more upsetting is that i am a police officer that will have to enforce this unfair law, if it passes. and knowing our government here in illinois it will pass. God forbid they spend their time in Springfield doing something that really matters, like finding money to fix the pothole filled roads all over the state.

Now that's going to suck, may be time to move sooner then later. You can't get a carry permit and now a helmet law. Maybe they should worry about getting an honest govenor before they mess with a person's right to decide.
Sorry DogCop, but the first ticket I get I may have to pull out my video camera and start recording every cop without a seatbelt on! I can sit in my front porch and catch them as they roll past all day long. This just ain't right.

This will suck. I live in Wisconsin but work in Illinois so I'll have to abide by this law since I ride the bike to work most days. Not sure why, after all the years with NO helmet law what so ever would Ill. push for a 100% helmet law. In Wisconsin, minors and riders with temp/learning permits are required to wear them... which I really don't have a problem with. But to take away the right of choice for adults is too much gov. control for my liking. Doesn't look good, hopefully it won't pass. Larry

Sorry to hear about this.
We've had a helmet law here in Washington state for decades. Even if the law were repealed. I would still wear one 99.9% of the time. The only exception would be on those very hot summer days when cooling off trumps even safety considerations. It's good we don't have those days very often around Seattle.
Big government sucks! Whatever happened to freedom of choice?
