I can't believe this thread. I'm referring to the replies to a law that finally steps up to the plate and gives a HARSH punishment for a crime. WTF is wrong with that?

I suppose most of you wouldn't support chopping the units off child molesters and rapists, making the death sentence for murderers mandatory and quicker, immediate deportation of illegals with prison time mandatory if they ever re-enter without permission, and a whole host of other desperately needed laws that make it so people are actually afraid to commit the crime.


WTF is the use of a law if the perps are not afraid of getting caught?

What in Gods name are you ranting about? How in hell can you even put those crimes in the same thread as speeding infractions? They are so far removed from one another that you entire post turns into some demented witch hunt, or semblence there of.

Stick the the subject, SPEEDING violations. Of corse if you happen to be molesting a child at 150 mph, I would have to agree, pull the culprit over and emediatly whack off said whacker.

Personally any time a law allows for seizure it should specify that the money be used in a manner that provides no benefit to those involved in the seizure. As an example if you seize vehicles for reckless driving then put the money in a fund for victims of uninsured motorists. When those involved in the seizure benefit from the proceeds of the seizure it is nothing but a corrupting influence. You certainly see it with drug seizures. You'll hear them get all excited about all the money/property they seized and what all that money is going to do for their department while, oh yeah, we also arrested a guy. The primary motivator should be the safety of the public and not making your department money.

IV. AMENDMENTS/COUNCIL SUBSTITUTE CHANGES
On March 13, 2008, the Committee on Infrastructure favorably reported the bill with a strike-all amendment,
and an amendment to the strike-all amendment. The amendment creates a new s. 316.1926, F.S., which
provides that violations of s. 316.2085(2) or (3), F.S., regarding motorcycle operation, or violations of the
speeding laws in s. 316.183(2), 316.187, and 316.189, F.S., in excess of 50 miles per hour over the limit, are
moving violations punishable as provided in Chapter 318.
The amendment subsequently amends 318.14, F.S., to provided “tiered� penalties for violations of the newly
created s. 316.1926, F.S. A first violation is subject to a fine of $1,000; a second violation is subject to a fine of $2,500 and a one-year suspension of the offender’s driver’s license; and a third violation is a third degree felony resulting in forfeiture of the vehicle and license suspension for ten years.
The amendment clarifies that both wheels must be on the ground at all times when operating a motorcycle, but
it is not a violation if a wheel loses contact with the ground briefly as a result of the road’s surface or other
circumstance beyond the control of the operator.
The amendment to the strike-all amendment removes the phrase “horizontally to the ground� in the statute
requiring license tags to be permanently affixed to the motorcycle or moped.
