Default Canton Shoe Shop

I wanted to let y'all know about a lil secret Beav & I discovered a while back. Beav needed a new latch sewn on his leather saddle bag. He walked into The Canton Shoe Shop located in down town Canton across the street from the Bank in the old part of town where the court house is. There is a elderly man in there that has owned the place for many years. The gentleman repaired Beav's saddlebag while he waited & only charged him a few dollars for his work. Beav paid the man double what he had asked for. A few days later I took a leather vest to him, along with 5 or 6 different patch's I wanted sewn on it. One being a large eagle with flags to be sewn across the back of the vest. I left it for a few days, came back to find it done. The guy said I owed him $10.00 for his work. I gave him $15.00, because I knew it took a while to do this. He smiled and said thank you so much. Last week I took my Harley leather coat to him. The main front zipper was broke & it was useless the way it was. I asked the feller if he could do anything with it. He said yea, I think I can put ya a new zipper in it. I asked him to put a really heavy duty zipper in the coat that would last forever. He went to the back of the shop & brought out a super duty zipper that looked like it would go in a military mess tent or something. I said yea! that's the one! I went back to his shop Friday to pick it up. He had it finished & did a great job! I asked what I owed, he asked me if $20.00 was okay. I said nope, you are underpricing your good work. I gave him $30.00 told him thank you & Merry Christmas. This had to have took him at least 4 or 5 hours to do this. If y'all ever need any typed of leather work done please keep this guy in mind. He had everything from boots, baseball gloves, to belts & saddles in there. He is a pleasure to talk to & do business with. Its great to know there are still a few true craftsmen out there. Thumbs up

Yep...

This fellow is truly stuck in the 40's/50's. Awesome feller (can't remember his name.)

Good for you Hubbs, spreadin' the word.

Only one thing.... This man is gettin' on up in age. Hope he lives to be 180 years old. Sure don't find many like this 'un anymore!

Bet a man could learn all he needed to know in life, just by sitting and listening to this feller for a while.

Go check him out. He is a wonderful guy! Sometimes his buddies will be hanging out in there with him, reminded me of Floyd's barber shop on Andy Griffin show. I want to just drop by & say hey when I am down town.

I will certainly remember that shop when the zipper on my "Made in China" Genuine H-D Logo Poser Jacket finally kicks the bucket.

Thanks, Dwayne!

Thanks, Dwayne!
I reakon they all are now Ken, he put in a American made YKK zipper in. I dont think it will give any problems. Another hint for those who want to buy a HD leather jacket. Check out dhgate.com ,, you will be buying it from china, same product, alot cheaper, have the part number to enter. It wont take product description. Its about half price. Sad I know, but better than paying twice the price for the same product.

Or just go to Fox Creek Leather and get a REAL American-made leather jacket. Expensive, yes. High quality, definitely yes. Made by Chinese slave labor, definitely NO.

That's the next one I'll get...
