have followed your pow story.
Live in Burnaby. Know Whistler and the mountains. Love Mt Washington.
Used to live in the Okanagan, and season passed Silver Star for years.
Skied Panorama, Louise, Sunshine.
Have NOT done Revelstoke or Kicking Horse.
Did Mt Shames in Terrace and Smithers too.
Just wondering what the ultimate bum trip would be...?

WhiteWater Nelson is only 45 minutes from Red, they're higher and get way more snow. It's high enough that it almost never rains or gets warm above freezing. I think it's the best mountain in the Canadian rockies for deep snow. They have a new lift that services a lot of black runs. There's some scary stuff, but not like Red. Lot of tree skiing. You can cover it all in a day.
Revelstoke is a big mountain, over a mile of vertical. However, the bottom is a lot warmer and flatter, with dense trees. So if you ski down it will be on a blue groomer. The top has a couple of decent bowls bounded by cliff bands you have to drop into. Also a lot of gladed tree areas. Lots of blacks and some double blacks. It's a great area, and lots of snow.
Kicking Horse is a place I always tell people they should stop at for a day if they're passing through. It has some steep stuff at the top, but it's only a half dozen turns then you have to travel another 3000 vertical on blue groomers or frozen chicken heads to do it again. There are some good runs but the good stuff isn't too long so just go and explore for a day then move on.
Fernie is the most awesome area of them all. Tons of snow, tons of bottomless pow. Long steep leg burning black and double black runs that go on and on and on. Lots of tree skiing and 4 big open bowls to explore. Cliffs, death shoots, you fall you die runs, and steep long soft mogul runs like none you've ever seen before. Check Boomerang.
Louise is where I grew up. Some people spend the day cruising the blue groomers oblivious of the double blacks. I think they have more double blacks than any other area. You'll stand there on top of the mountain looking almost vertically down (it seems) legs shaking. Remember what I said about Red? Same applies on the Back side of Louise, you fall you die. Or at least you might wish you did. lol.
Everything else is for intermediates, well except SilverStar, Whistler, Blackcomb. Apex has some good terrain. But that's it. Nothing at Sunshine that's worthy, Dilerium Dive is a mid Black run by any other ski resorts standards.

you are not prepared for what happens here late at night whilst you are sleeping
NAKEDNESS and everything!!!!!
maybe
Most memorable run is on Louise, last run of the day.
Fernie should be doable this year.
Funny, my cousin with 3 kids lives in Trail and does Red as his local.
He's a puffy family guy, yet his girls rock Red.
Never visited in the winter. This may be the year.
he is... summer pow dreaming
