Yep. They told us that if you could send and receive over 20 WPM then you could go to Radio-Teletype school. I figured they couldn't put that on your back and make you hump the boonies, so I studied real hard.

 

Izzo.....Did that strategy work?

 

Sure did. Finished Radio school at Ft. Ord CA, then on to Radio-Teletype school in Ft. Gordon GA, and then RT Team Chief school (NCO course) there. Made Sgt. E-5 in 11 months total in the service. Then 18 months in Vietnam and out.
