Well, some are union jobs and some aren't ... some are state jobs with a union ( as in my case ) ... Unfortunately a couple of years ago they decided to wash all benefits except pension input, a few paid holidays and 10 sick days with 2 personal days additional ... right now I get $17.40 per hour and my route is 6.2 hours a day ( 6:10 am 'til 9:00 am and 2:10 pm 'til 4:55 pm... just enough to play all summer and not have to worry about the money :>)

Never mind, I read your post again.... In Calif they make between $35k and 50K annually but the kicker is the excellent benefits and the retirement they receive is almost the same as the wages. Lit, too bad your in KY, we could go out an have a beer today

I should note that there are "killer insurance benefits" once you've got your time in ( in my case it was 5 years and over 60 years old ) ... They're doing away with that however with new employees.

I think here they are federal employees...

Sorry, guess I should have been more specific. It's a school bus, probably as a substitute driver.

I was so shocked when he asked, I never even thought to ask about the money. I don't know if I would have the patience to put up with the kids anymore. Barely have enough for my own!

Believe me I understand. I got pretty attached to the kids too when I drove the same route full time. Still see them occasionally and usually get a hug from the girls and a hearty handshake from the guys.

I'm gonna stew on it a bit as I run my errands.

Later folks!
