Larry, about 6 or 8 years ago I had a gout attack in my left knee. Feels like shards of glass grinding in the joint. Doc said a lot of it is brought on by diet. Never had a recurrence, thank goodness. As Greg said, it is an arthritic condition, good luck with getting some relief....PAINFUL STUFF!
Do you eat a lot of sugar and/or carbohydrates?
I was in a lot of pain for several years Larry, both back and knees hurt like a SOB all the time.
When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes I stopped eating sugar and cut WAY down on the carbs. A lot of my pain just disappeared. I would never have believed it myself but it actually did.
Rand makes a lot of good points, but most Americans aren't self sufficient enough to live up to the standards of Libertarianism.
I can put up with an *** like that all day!

I like books as much as the next guy but I couldn't make a lifestyle out of it...
Get gout in the right big toe, doc says diet and drink lots of water.
Water works well for me, just have to remember to drink it between beers.
High today and tomm is 41, not to bad and the sun feels good now.
Have a great weekend all.
Off trail riding on the ATV's tomm, shouldn't be to bad.

Also a good point. But we used to be a people who prided themselves on being self sufficient. Now we seem to be becoming a nation dependent upon government to take care of us to a great extent.
I get it!
