Worse day of week for riding?
For some reason, I often hear people talk about Sunday as a prime day for relaxed riding. I have never experienced this. I have found it to be the worse day of the week to be out for a relaxed and casual ride, at least any time before 6PM.
Any time before 2PM, the roads are heavy with people going to or coming from church or Country Kitchen Buffet. A lot of church lots clear out fast--I mean lightning fast. A lot of them seem like they are a bit irritated they have been sitting in a wooden pew for an hour and are rushing home to catch the game on TV or to get to some event or park. When a church empties, they will aggressively tailgate you to no end and are quite likely to do things like pass on a solid yellow line if they can't get home fast enough. I mean no disrespect to church goers but just calling it like I see it. People leaving church can often be exceedingly aggressive and hostile on the roads.
Also, it is the day of the week that the most elderly people are out driving. It is no secret that some of their driving skills are not exactly confidence inspiring and extra caution is a must. They sometimes drive well under the speed limit and this makes the church tailgaters behind you even more irate and aggressive.
People also are heading out to parks, rural areas, and rec centers and traffic can be more congested in these areas. After 4PM, everyone is racing to get home and it can be like rush hour.
