Nothing. Next time you go to a private place of business making do with older office furnishings and equipment compare that to every government office you enter with new furniture, equipment, etc. that know if they don't spend their entire budget and ask for more the next year's budget will get cut. The world is full of producers and users, unfortunately most of our government agencies fall into the latter.

They be cheap on the per diem , like $35 a day on meals and she breaks it down too . I snagged the company CC this morning so it's gonna get abused not mine .

That sux. We get $125 a day plus mileage. I only get out about twice a year though. Last time the secretary put us up in a bad part of Stockton. Hotel had an option to pay by the hour with a 2 hour minimum. Not happy with that hotel. Glad we had the company car that time.

Soft, government employee $125 per diem
don't get me wrong, glad you got a govt gig, soft, but.....if you have to ask.

Actually a state gig sorta. We are only 40% funded by the state. Our office furniture is 40 years old and the same is true for our equipment. No raises or cost of living increases but its a great gig. Its nice to have the security of being union without the BS. I enjoy teaching old school mechanics to my students. The bureaucracy outside of our department is bad though. We are pretty oldschool here. Most of my co workers are cowboy/rancher types. Definitely a unique situation.
