It's all about timing, isn't it

I was in Jackson Hole in '07. Had been visiting a friend who lived in Hardin MT and came over Beartooth into Yellowstone and from there to JH. Love the area. Heck I love the west period. Planning on a trip next year that will bring me back through Utah on the way home. Always wanted to ride Monument Valley where all those old John Wayne/John Ford movies were made.

Couldn't help but notice that none of the folks working the shops were locals.

Showing my slow uptake on certain activities here:
Is one of the Peckerwoods in a bad way, or is it someone else?

Only one that comes to mind is WouldWood, who is taking a hiatus from the forums. Don't know why, he just said he had some family stuff to tend to.

I think that's because most locals have been replaced by the new "locals" with money and they don't need to work.

Got that. Hope he is doing ok.
The comment was made about someone not having a sense of humor. Have we offended someone?
Not important I guess. My Christmas has been great so far.
Except for my brother who just called in sick and won't be over for dinner.

I know it was crazy when I moved there in 1978 ! Then in the 80's the billionaires bought out the millionaires and it got crazier ! I have friends that built back in the 70's and sold out when they retired and moved to MT with small fortunes. I could have purchased 5 acres with a view of the Grand for 30K in 1979 but needed 5K down ! Might as well have been a million bucks back then ! 23 years old and making $9.00 and hour ! The old man coulda helped but you know how that story goes ! One of the prettiest places on the planet ! Bar None !! My first daughter was born in Jackson Wyo.

Greg, the sense of humor comment was one I posted several posts back. Something along the line of, 'how do people with no sense of humor make it through life.' It was in regard to a couple of threads that should have been hilarious but the usual 'I'm a bad *** biker' types had to chip in. No biggie.

Merry Christmas Peckerwoods. Got the kiddo all settled in with her new horde of ****. Finally get a chance to sit down. I'm ready for a nap.
