Question for the TOAK. If our Canadian friends do not celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, do they forfeit Black Friday as well?
We celebrate Thanksgiving in Oct. As for Black Friday, we are seeing it more in the last 5 years. The Big Box Stores (American ones) are usually the ones that have some sort of Black Friday sale. Anyone have a clue as to why its called Black Friday?

As big box stores operate "in the red" all year this is the one day that is supposed to make them go into the black or be profitable. This is not to be confused with the shopping in Ferguson on Monday.

Conventional wisdom is the companies either running in the red or break even get 'into the black' profit wise with sales made that day. Friday was also the day the US stock market collapsed and came to be known as Black Friday.
Of course, in today's environment there are those who want to link it to slave trading....go figure.

Fine job, but you forgot post the operating hours of the big sale in Ferguson. How are shoppers supposed to know when the stores open? Oh, they are opened by the customers, never mind.

I thought it was understood that this was a "lights out" sale?
