No. Charter school. Great school. We have to put in 60 hours a year volunteer work. Kinda like a private school though. Has to wear a uniform and no abcd grades. You get a 123 or 4. Strange but very progressive with outstanding results.
We've been looking into some of those options. There's a charter school that sounds real similar, volunteer hours, uniform, but still considered a CA public school somehow. Other option my wife was looking at was a fairly large school ran by a church. They do the volunteer hours as well but you get to pay 575 a month on top the free labor.
Yup those two made my pants shrink a little bit.

We couldn't afford private plus there isn't one in our small town. I dig this school. They are very transparent. We had a meeting last week and they laid the whole budget out in front of us. Was very informative. We wanted to move in a few years but now might stick it out till he's in 6th grade.
Press 2 for English in the public school here. Sad. So glad we had this option and got in on a lottery.
