hey Mark. The diagnoses of my 98 WG is not good.
Can actually wiggle the drive pulley by hand, so it seems a bearing and/or seal is gone. Perhaps the new belt I put on last summer (2013) was too tight, or maybe just a freak thing. 38,000 miles.
Not sure if there is tranny damage, and I'm out of town working until end of Dec, so she sits.
Will keep you up to date.
