Somebody's gotta get this train back on the track. In the meantime...
Given that I enjoy a little sip of an evening, I've been trying to broaden my horizons. There's a Mexican restaurant in Steamboat Springs. I forget the name, but the manager is Mario. He keeps a bottle of anejo tequila behind the bar. It's in a custom made bottle, covered in the skin and hoof of a bull. You can't set it down, you have to hang it. Apparently it was made by a guy in Mexico decades ago. Anyway, it's intended to be refilled. Mario gave us a taste of that tequila, and lemme tell ya, I was hooked. Smooth and sweet, and man did it go down easy. So, I've been testing different sippin' tequilas.
Lots of fun.

Speaking of Costco, try their Kirkland anejo. I was talking to the beverage manager in my old store, and he said that a regular customer, also a "takilla" lover, said it's better than the stuff he was paying $125 a bottle for. It's around $20, depending on location.
For the boutique, small batch bourbon lovers, I heard some disturbing news the other day. Apparently most of it is distilled by a few major distillers, and then custom labeled. Talk about a letdown.

my wooden nickel-
the Costco Vodka is a nice sipper. Heard it's Grey Goose relabelled.
There are many very very good tequilas, so I'm not sure why we only get the second rate ones here in Canada. In my other home in Baja we go down to the tequila speciality shop and pick up some nectar for under $30 US.
