90 years ... Good Luck. I was out there a few years ago while they were building it. Haven't had the chance to back there yet. I'd like to give it a whirl before it starts crumbling.

Spent the last 5 hours at the pass and ID office trying to get some truck drivers badged into the base and I'm still waiting. I really need a stiff drink right about now.

 

I remember when I was at Death Valley we went out to the test site at Mercury to screen surplus govt vehicles ! This was in 1989 so way before 9/11. It was ridiculous back then took damn near top secret security clearance and a complete escort with armed staff to get on site. They at least fed you since you could not bring anything on base except your clothes ! They did have some good sheet though ! I told the property manager why didn't they just park the stuff outside the gate so we would not need to go thru the bs ! Just shrugged his shoulder !

 

I've pretty much dun that in the past. Loaded up flatbeds and drove down to the gate with my partner following in a forklift then picked the load off off my truck and put it on the outgoing truck. Get some weird looks doing it right outside the gate but haven't gotten in trouble for it yet.

 

You said stiff! Good thing you didn't say stiff wood!
