Yep GL-5 will eat up the yellow metal, unless it's Spectro. Spectro has buffers like scrubbing bubbles that protect the yellow metals. If you don't have Spectro then use a GL-1 or quit fugging around and get a Baker. Bakers have no yellow metals, yellow metals are for pu#$%&.

I run whatever syn gear oil I can get cheap then add my fancy friction modifier. I had about 5 gallons of Mobil 1 85-140 I got for free.

Spectro is pricey, but I havn't known anybody yet that runs it who's had tranny problems.

Where I usta be employed we had it by the 30 gallon drums and when the pumper wouldnt pick it up any more they would toss the gallon or so in the bottom. I just started to collect the leftover till I had a 5 gallon pail. Not bad in my book.

Yea the guys at Spectro know what they are doing unlike some of these companies that do just what Lou was talking about take somebody elses oil add some modifiers stick a label on it and say "This is the best oil on the planet". Spectro actually does testing and research.
