Go easy breakin' them in. Mine were slick when new for the first couple days only. I can lean waaay over, till muffler clamps drag now so definitely have confidence in em. With 8,000 on them still look nearly new. The old dunlops would have been flattening out by now.

Mine was final in '03, too. I still have a house payment, but that's the only thing I pay interest on. Everything I do now is cash up front, and the visa for gas and internet buying gets paid every month, don't carry a balance. Makes the money stretch farther, not paying someone to use their money. But the spouse support is forever; in Minnysota, after you've been married so many years, they can make it permanent. We have a polite relationship, but don't see her much. Something happens to her before I get too old, that spouse support money just might go to a nice pickup and a 5th wheel rig for bikes, tools, and on the road living. Last 10 years of support woulda bought a good rig. And an FXRT to restore.

If you do much, one of those variable temp models is sure nice. Don't care for the gun type with the trigger, too clumsy, and all of 'em I've used had lousy tips.

Go down to the local AmPm and grab one of those $2 crack pipe torches. They w*rk great for soldering. Sure beats using an iron.
