Finally gotta coffee about 9am, but wus well after midnite 'fore I got to sleep. Musta woke up 4 or 5 times last nite, hate doing that. Cold and wet today, and doesn't look like I'll be planting any veggies outside this month, if the weather guessers are guessing right.

Doc ain't gonna get an Indian, Rocket ain't gonna get a Harley just yet... I may be the odd one this year, got ahold of the guy yesturday, out of town, back Wednesday. Probably take a look at his bike then. Be at least an hour's ride home if I get it, that's always a nervous ride, wondering if there's sumptin he dint tell me and it's gonna grenade on me halfway home. Be a lot shorter on the freeway, but since that goes through some of the most congested traffic in Minnysota, I'd be doing a loop around the cities, miles longer. Be a nice ride, if it makes it... if I get it....

'Nuder Ural, 07, way better parts, Brembo front disk that's actually supposed to stop the bike instead of slowing it down, some American made electronics, bigger plusher seat in the car, the weird looking sidecar model only front forks, sidecar drive (two wheel drive, can be disengaged), modern carbs mounted more out of the way (can only get the edge of my foot on the pedal on mine, carb's right over it), newer 750 motor (mine's 650), rated at a slower top end speed (huh? that's odd...), a real two passenger seat (mine has an awful tractor solo seat), and ELECTRIC start, hate that short stroke sideways kicker, can barely get my foot on it - but even the newest ones still have that as backup, nothing wrong with that. Generator on mine won't handle a high output headlight or anything extra, 07's upgraded to a real electrical system you're supposed to be able to hang a lot of extras on. If this one has no problems (owner, anudder retired gent, says it's actually a creampuff, yeah, heard that before, we'll see...), don't think there's anything I'd want to change on it; I know, I've said that before... .

Those rabbit and turtle and peace decals would have to go, though. He had it listed for a couple weeks for a normal price, just dropped it way down cause he's moving soon, lowest price I've seen for an 07 (I've seen 98's like mine listed higher), so my theory is, if this one isn't to my liking after getting it, probably wouldn't lose much if any selling it next year. I just want something way better than the '98 has turned out to be for the grandkid, and replacing most of the summer errand runs I have to do with the van.

If it doesn't work for me after all, would be my last Ural. This whole rig is still cheaper than buying a new car and installing it on one of the Harleys; be hard to even put a used car on for the price. Like the idea this is a proven design, too, not an add on that could have problems with handling.

One of these days I'll let my daughter take me around the block. Probably only once.
