Well where ever you move Oldie, scout the neighborhood for dogs first, could be worse where it's warm all the time. My neighbor has had 3 dogs since I've live next to him, his dogs don't bark, it's this trick called training.

Every misbehaving dog owner I've ever talked to said "but it's in their nature". Never known a single dog owner that would even try to train their dogs. I've told a couple of them it's in my nature to kill things that annoy me. Wouldn't do that to a dog, but can't say the thought doesn't occur to me occasionally, sometimes even for the dog...

I've had people get after me for making my dog stop barking while the are walking on the walking trail by my house. They say. We talk to her when we go by. If they encourage Her how does that help me to train her to be quiet?

Different when people encroach on a dog's territory, and I'd expect them to bark then. It's the folks that put the dog out and ignore it while it howls at the back door for hours that I think are inexcusable. Guy next to me had a cop at his door at 3am a while back, guess I wasn't the only neighbor that didn't appreciate his dog at that hour. Didn't call the cop, but did tell him who the dog belonged to. Could have kept quiet, I suppose, and let the guy go pick his dog up at the pound. Was about 10 degrees that night, can't blame the dog for wanting back in, it was out there for at least 2 hours. I don't dislike dogs, and most owners are pretty responsible, but some folks just shouldn't have them.

It is the dogs nature as a pack animal to try and be the alpha male and protect the pack (you) however if you teach the dog that YOU are the alph male as I have, then the dog won't bark! It is not his job to protect the pack no more.

Hell, makes me tired just driving a van to my daughter's house. I don't much enjoy driving anything with a steering wheel.
