If it feels like you stepped on nail with your heel in the morning, and eases up with a few steps, that's plantar fasciitis, real common for folks in their 50's. I got it around 58. It's a misery, takes a few months to quit, if it does. Needs good arch support in everything you walk in (even my slippers at home). I've found that when my feet start getting sore and I can't sit down, it helps to have something putting pressure on the arch of the foot, like the edge of a curb (one foot, shift weight to it) or standing on something like a broom handle size stick or rock.

I don't know what's going on here, but it was 50's and a few 60's for most of the last two weeks, and it's frikkin' 24 this morning.
