Good advice for us young guys. I'm hoping for 55 to retire. House is 3/4 piad off. Gotta keep my fingers crossed for a while longer

That big pot of chili turned out great, only problem is, can't eat any more. No wunder I ain't losing any weight... Gonna have to skip my chocolate ice cream tonite. Umm, mebbe jus a little...

Didn't go out, didn't get on my knees in the basement, pretty much a wasted day. Nice to just relax, though. Watched a Russian movie on Netflix streaming, August.Eighth (period is in the title). The Russians can show Hollywood what combat should look like. Well, better anyway. Kinda neat seeing all the Russian equipment, and the bad guys using M16s... Starts out with a kid's weird scifi like daydream, almost stopped it 'fore it got started, but that didn't last long. Think it was a pretty good war movie, and I didn't even know it was going to be a war movie. Might seem more interesting if ya skipped the first 45 minutes, though, long movie and starts out real slow. Did I mention the main actor is a real purty lady?

Oh man, if I'd had an extra 7 healthy years of this - believe me, that's worth saving for, and no new car or bike would be worth as much, that kind of time is priceless.

Argh. Neighbor's f'n little yappy dog has been barking outside non stop since about 12:20. Lights are out in their house, all the cars (4) in the drive, can't imagine how anyone could sleep through that racket; damned thing has one of the loudest high pitched barks I've ever heard. Runs around the house, tries to claw through the front door (only place I can see it) occasionally. Sounding a little different now; half grown pup, 9 below zero, oughta freeze to death pretty soon. Hope so. Suppose there might be a problem over there, but if it's carbon monoxide, they're finished by now anyway. Ain't going out there, don't wanna get dog bit at 2am, and if it got in reach, don't know if I could hold back from turning it into dog mush. Probably have unpleasant consequences... Would call the cops, but hoping it's dead in the morning, don't wanna rescue the pest. I get nasty when my sleep gets f'd with.

Little yappy dog started barking at other folks' front doors, heard someone yelling at it, and a few minutes later, here comes the police. Took him quite a while knocking on the doors and windows to get someone up, hard to believe 4 people could sleep through that racket - and forget they left a dog outside. Too bad it got rescued before it turned into a pupsickle. He'll probably think I called the cops, but all I did was tell the cop which house so he wouldn't be scaring the other neighbors knocking on doors after 3am. And get outta the cold quicker, that ain't a fun job, either. Ah, quiet... bedtime.

I retired at 48 with a really good pension (wife has the same pension) and then we had a really bad year with 3 costly emergency expenses that set us back a lot. I was getting a little bit bored sitting at home so went back to work.
Now that being said, there is a big difference between "having to work and "wanting to work". When you know that you don't have to go to work or that you don't have to put up with the bosses BS, it makes going in every day a completely different monster.
