I think this brutal -25/-35° winds buffeting the front of the house was the cause. Normally, when it gets this cold, I just leave the cabinet doors open on the front of the cabinets and it hasn't been a problem.

 

went through that last year. what a frigin mess. we are up to 19 from this morning when we were at 2.

 

was -8° here this morning. All the way up to +7° now, but the wind seems to have died down some. Hopefully that will be the end of that frozen pipe crap.

Dagummit. Basement floor is 4" thick. Hammer drill jammed a 1/2" drill through it easy enuf, but the handle's broke on the sledge hammer, gonna hafta buy a new one before I proceed. Cut about a 6" square with a cutoff wheel in an old skilsaw I keep for abusing, drill the corners, knock it out, and then dig and try to find out where the kitchen drain joins into the main line. This is gonna be a pita job.

 

Yep, 4wd gets me out of the snow, all that happens on ice is all four wheels slide.

 

It's snowing to beat the band now. All the ice will be covered, not good..
